Brooklyn Park

Finishing Machine Operator

GLS has a great opportunity for a 2nd shift Finishing Machine Operator in our Brooklyn Park facility.

 

SUMMARY: Operates and maintains Finishing equipment safely and efficiently.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include

  • Operates Finishing machines to produce quality work on time to meet customer needs.
  • Performs maintenance on equipment and documents on maintenance sheet.
  • Reads and follows instructions on job ticket.
  • Reports needed parts and or machine problems to manager.
  • Reports time and material consumption accurately.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean.
  • Obeys company rules and observes all safety regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vo-tech certificate, helpful.
  • 1-2 years’ experience running a cutter, folder, stitcher or other bindery machine helpful.

Driver

GLS / NEXT Precision Marketing is currently seeking an experience driver to load, unload, pick up and deliver materials locally.

This individual must possess a valid Class D driver’s license; have a clean driving record and have a current medical card or can pass a DOT physical. The right candidate will be friendly, professional, reliable, self-motivated and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. A good knowledge of the Twin Cities area is a plus.

Must be 21 years of age.

Press Feeder

GLS / NEXT Precision Marketing is a commercial print and strategic marketing technology company with over three decades of experience and is seeking a Sheetfed Feeder to join our team.

Work Hours: 2 pm-10 pm

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for assisting in the operation of the sheet fed press.
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly and efficiently assist in the make ready of the press.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist start up and operate the press efficiently.
  • Show the ability to thoroughly clean up the press including washing blankets, blanket cylinders, impression cylinders and other areas of the press requiring cleaning.
  • Demonstrate the ability to gum plates thoroughly so they run easily when used again.
  • Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication, roller inspection and deglazing, new blanket preparation, clean water tanks and make roller changes.
  • Calibrate the densitometer and pH meter according to procedures specified in the equipment manuals.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of procedures contained in the quality manual, standard operating procedures and work methods and demonstrate consistency in following those procedures.
  • Provide complete and accurate information at shift change.
  • Use the floor shop data collection terminals and display consistency and accuracy in meeting the data collection requirements specified by management.
  • Demonstrate the willingness to work together and accept direction from supervisors, management and peers to improve quality and performance.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • Work overtime when needed.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Infrequent reaching, bending and stooping.
  • Frequent standing.
  • Ability to visually inspect all work for defects.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive work.

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and understand oral/written instructions.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.
  • Work experience on the same or a functionally similar press for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Reliability through attendance, punctuality and attention to workstation.
  • Demonstrate positive safety attitude.

Hand Worker Lead

The Hand-Worker Lead is responsible for providing superior leadership for GLS employees and temporary labor associates, which results in timely and accurate completion of projects, within budgeted limits. This position is 2nd shift.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Ensure Production and Quality Reports on all projects are completed.
  • Oversees handworkers to assure quality, accuracy and speed of production.
  • Coach handworkers to assure quality, accuracy and speed of production.
  • Verifies time cards and reconciles against work performed.
  • Operates material and production equipment.
  • Effectively communicate issues to the next shifts leadership, planner, supervisor or manager.
  • Coordinate and process remaining daily outbound shipments.
  • Assist as required with warehouse replenishment and cycle counting.
  • Provides backup for Planner, Distribution Supervisor and Distribution Manager as needed.
  • Maintains accurate counts of completed items/projects and submits accurate counts of all remaining materials.
  • Knowledgeable on all shipping systems and maintains accurate records.
  • Maintain temp labor skills achievements records.
  • Informs and updates Planner or Supervisor of all projects, run rates, quality issues and other pertinent information.
  • Utilize WMS data collection system.
  • Submits written reports of daily activities to Planner or Supervisor.
